How students lose AP Statistics points
These are specific to this exam. Read them again the night before.
Never write 'accept the null hypothesis' or 'this proves'. You either reject or fail to reject, and neither proves anything.
Random sampling lets you generalise to a population; random assignment lets you claim cause and effect. Claiming causation from a survey is a guaranteed lost point.
Conditions are graded separately from the computation. A perfect p-value with no condition check scores well below a rough p-value with the conditions verified.
Every conclusion needs context. 'Reject the null' is half an answer; 'there is convincing evidence that the mean commute time is longer than 30 minutes' is the whole one.
