Common questions

Which AP maths exam should I take?

Calculus AB if you have finished precalculus and want a single-semester calculus course; Calculus BC if you have covered that material faster and want the series and parametric content too. AP Statistics runs independently of both and needs far less algebra.

How much of an AP exam is the free response?

Roughly half the score on the maths exams, and it is scored on the reasoning shown rather than the final value. An unjustified correct answer routinely earns fewer points than a justified one.

Do I need a graphing calculator?

For the calculus exams, yes, on the sections that allow one. Each course page here lists the exact calculator policy per section, because it differs by exam and part.
